We have their cable/cable internet package at my house in G-Raps. I watch their TV and they have commercials where they brag that they are "WAY faster than DSL." Well, I have DSL before, and I have to say -- At least DSL is consistent. For about 3 weeks Comcast will work just fine, then we will experience a week of Comcast working like a 128k modem. What is the deal, Comcast? Should I sue you for false advertising? I won't, but I hope you read this, Comcast, because you certainly have a disgruntled customer who will do everything in his power to avoid your service when he gets his own place.
BD's Mongolian BBQ

So I have a temporary job now. Hooray! I am going to be working at BD's Mongolian BBQ on 28th St. in G-Raps, MI. It is only a temporary job. I'm still looking for that teaching job. I'll let you know when I have it and where.
Miami...Bienvenido

Where will I be at the end of Wednesday? I will be in Miami with the Calvin Alumni Choir. Gonna be doing some singing at the ACDA competition. We will rock for Jesus. And I might attend a Bulls vs. Heat game. Haven't decided yet. I'll let you know if I do, though, cuz it will rock as well.
Doing good (I suppose)

And now for a dissertation on why my emotions are mixed. Michigan is a good place. I like it here. Grand Rapids has been good to me. However, thanks to a sucking job market, I have been without a job for the last 3 months. I've applied to be a server in restaurants; I applied to be a barista in several coffee shops; I even have my name in at a temp service. But nothing. All I want is to make something like a measly $180 a week so that I can pay the bills and put some money into savings so that it is a lot easier to purchase a diamond and a ring. But right now I'm down to $49 in the bank.

I know man does not live on bread alone. But it would be nice to buy my own bread, ya know. It's not so bad sitting around the house doing nothing. But I have no income, so I think I would rather be working. After 3 months of sitting on my McDuff I'm ready to do something else.

Tuesday, December 19, 2006

Been about 3 months. I've been busy. Student teaching went well. Now I have to find a job while finding a job. Get the word out that I will be applying at Illiana. Your prayers and support are coveted.

In other news, I'm now in the market for a good engagement ring. Any tips. I'm on a tight budget, but I also know that money should not be too much of an issue when it comes to the ring. Anywho, if you know of a good quality place to check out, let me know. I'm shopping right now and don't have any one set place in mind. I'm just trying to find a good deal on the ring that I want (I have a good idea of what I'm going to get).

Cubs fans pay attention...and hate Larry Dobrow

Now, just to be clear, this comes from Larry Dobrow of cbs.sportsline.com. I say that for 2 reasons: 1) I wish to cite my sources in a proper academic manner, 2) b/c I don't want Cubs fans to hate me.

**small tip - read this carefully and full of discernment**

Larry is discussing different people that can be played for mistakes in this past baseball season
http://cbs.sportsline.com/mlb/story/9674109
"God: Clearly he/she/it, if he/she/it exists, hates the Cubs.
There can't be any other reason for the team's near-biblical
tribulations over the last few seasons, can there? An inability to
develop young players -- God's fault. Workload-related injuries to Kerry
Wood and Mark Prior -- totally God's fault. Pointless splurging on
mediocre relievers (Scott Eyre, Ryan Dempster, Bob Howry), ill-conceived
trades for overrated pipsqueaks (Juan Pierre), an infatuation with
do-nothing-particularly-well middle infielders (Neifi Perez, Ronny
Cedeno) ... God, God, God. Now, Derrek Lee's freak wrist injury -- I
blame Dusty Baker and Jim Hendry equally for that one."

Tuesday, September 19, 2006

CAR TROUBLES!! ARRRRGH!!!
Friday, September 08, 2006

Big weekend ahead -- Friday night I'm working (but I demoted myself to regular usher); Saturday is the Michigan game and Courtney and I are going out to Grand Haven (I'm not sure why, yet); Sunday I finally return to my church here in GR.

I know, you probably don't care, but if you run into me, you'll know where you are on what day.
Things I do

My first week of student teaching went well. It's really boring, though. I sit there and watch teachers do what I want to be doing. That's going to change shortly, though. Over the next two weeks the teachers will begin to hand the classroom over to me to start teaching. I'm excited. I guess the good that comes out of all this is that I know for sure I want to be a teacher. When all I do is sit and watch and think "Why can't that be me RIGHT NOW!" that's a good sign.

In other news, I'm headed down to Chi-town for the weekend. I'll see you there.
Music rules my life

It's true, it's true. And very sad. Music should probably not be this big a factor in my life. I literally sat around for about 6 hours in my chair at my computer organizing my music files. I have received just under 2.5 GBs of music from my friend at camp and am adding it to my computer. I have found iTunes to be both wonderful and annoying. It is wonderful when the song has an album label. If it does not, iTunes is the most difficult media program I can think of.

Wow! am I spent. I think I will read now until I fall asleep -- (still recovering from camp).
